Join Rakhee, for a 5 day (4 nights) workshop in Jaipur, INDIA.
Jaipur is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Rajasthan in Northern India. It is rich in history and was founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amer after whom the city is named. Jaipur is also known as the Pink City of India. In 1853 when the Prince of Wales visited Jaipur the whole city was painted pink to welcome him during the regime of Sawai Ram Singh. Today avenues remain painted in pink provide a distinctive appearance to the city.
Jaipur is also very very close to the capital of India, New Delhi and forms a part of the west Golden Triangle tourist circuit along with Agra. It is a popular tourist destination in India because of its colorful aspect, spices, jewellery and amazing forts showing off its magnificent history.
In this perfect setting learn the tips and tricks in basic Food Photography and Styling but also witness and be part of the hustle bustle of India.
We will be staying at a luxury hotel situated away from the usual chaos that defines India! The Resort is one of the best resorts in Jaipur that offer you the best there is. We will also be staying on a shared basis.
Classes + activities:
Theory of photography – We will talk about the basic camera settings. By the end of the workshop you will know everything about ISO, aperture, shutter speed, composition, lenses, full frame vs. cropped frame, white balance and much more. On top of that, you will know how to use this knowledge to your advantage and become your camera’s best friend.
Styling practical – For this class we learn by doing. Rakhee will show you how we go about styling and creating a food story. She will demonstrate how to create moody settings which beautifully contrasts the bright colors of food. We will also show you how you could do light pictures. All dependant on the style you choose. We will also show you how to purposely use props, and what negative space does with your photography.
Fabric dyeing – We will spend one day learning about fabric dyeing and block printing which is famous for this region. A perfect day also to practice the human interest photography.
How to use Adobe Lightroom – A sit down session where we talk about editing your photos and how to create a personal preset to give your images that consistent look and feel.
Talk about social media – In this session we talk about growing a community on Instagram and Pinterest, talk about developing a style, the use of hashtags, dealing with the algorithms, how to go about sponsored posts, collaborations, balancing creativity & business,
Welcome dinner – On the first day after a long trip, you will be offered a lovely dinner. Long tables, a home-cooked meal by Rakhee, candle light, and good company!
DETAILS
- Workshop will cover: basic camera settings such as shutter speed, aperture, and ISO and their effects on the image. Lenses and their focal lengths, manipulation of natural lighting, food styling and plating, and post production in Adobe Lightroom.
The nearest airport is in Jaipur city and is the Jaipur International Airport. However when booking flights this can be an expensive option. I highly recommend checking out flights to New Delhi (capital of India). A domestic flight from New Delhi to Jaipur is not only under an hour but these flights are dirt cheap. This is an option I myself prefer and will be using on my own trip. - A DLSR, or smart phone camera is required. (no point and shoot)
- All accommodation, meals, workshop, workshop related activities and city visits are included in the workshop cost.
- Price listed is per person.
- Space limited to 8 attendees.
