Everywhere I have looked this past week I have only seen cookies. I think I missed this whole cookie event in my years gone by. I can be pretty blind to things that lie right in front of me sometimes. I’m known to be rebellious sometimes (uh all the time!) and I was trying my hardest to not get into the whole cookie mood. Why the heck not? asked a little voice inside my head. I don’t really know, I replied back. Maybe because I’m just a big old kid in the guise of an adult.
So when my kid came to me and asked me to make cookies for her Christmas dinner, it seemed the perfect excuse to succumb to the whole cookie baking thing!
I love how her school organises these events and makes the holidays so special. I never had that growing up. The search for her outfit, ah it is so much fun… and I wish I was this age again. 🙂
My grocery store, takes out a magazine every few weeks and there stood the most beautiful cookies. Simple and spiced. I just added coriander powder to them as well. The result is the most lovely soft spiced cookies. Perfect for this weather and for this festive season.
And here I was thinking I could easily glaze (in intricate patterns) 50 cookies! Ha! I was in for a rude surprise. The glazing was beyond difficult and I fumbled my way through some 20 and gave up! It always looked so easy in the videos. I guess not!
Glazed or not, cookies don’t get more flavourful and easier than this.

Rakhee I love the look of your website especially sari clad women on bicycle! Brings back memories!! These cookies sound divine and who could resist spiced cookies!!
Rakhee says
Thank you so much Ami! I thought the sari clad lady was apt, since I am in Indian in Holland! 🙂

You have your cutness here and I love it. It is so nice that they have Christmas dinner, how special?! I am sure these cookies would’ve been a hit my friend. Rakhee, the pictures are beautifully done.
Btw, I can so relate to you regarding being a rebel..hehe. I didn’t make a lot of cookies on my blog too, and I was like, I need a few up there, so I finally did.
Crazy girls we are.
xoxo

We are crazy aren’t we? Or maybe not Asha. We are Indian women trying to make a place for ourselves. I don’t know about you but for me there is a lot to be rebellious about!!!
The cookies hopefully will be a hit tonight. 🙂

So sweet how your Daughter’s school pulls together a celebration; something she’ll remember and look forward to always. Rakhee, the first time I flooded a cookie, I thought I was going to pull my hair out. It had to be ‘perfect’ you know, but in my mind it wasn’t. Your cookies are gorgeous! My fav is the heart, with the smaller heart in the center. So glad you jumped on the cookie train! Take that holiday cookies!! Gorgeous my dear! xo

OMG Traci I was so disappointed when I started decorating. I thought, oh easy peasy! Haha NOT!
So my baby girl wanted all 60 cookies glazed! The next lot turned out better… Take that indeed you holiday cookies! 🙂

These cookies are gorgeous Rakhee, I’ve avoided putting cookies on my blog so far, I’m a bit of a rebel too, must be my Irish blood 😉 But I will definitely be making some with my daughter when she gets her school holidays 😉 Her school does a Christmas dinner and the teachers dress up and eat with the kids, which is great I think, the kids love it!
Rakhee says
Isn’t it great that schools do that? Its such a great way for everyone to come together. My baby is so shy and this is great that she is forced to go for something like this. Thanks for stopping by dear Michelle. <3

Oh, these cookies look wonderful, Rakhee! I’m working on some spiced sugar cookies too, and I love that you’ve combined five spice with coriander. And I hear ya on the icing part — it looks so easy when I watch someone else do it, but it’s much more time consuming when you start doing it yourself!
Rakhee says
Thanks so much Lisa. The five spice and coriander worked really well in this recipe. I’ll look out for your cookies! 🙂
