I saw Gravity this week. I was keen to see it as soon as it came out. However, like many times, if given a choice, I’d rather sit and talk to my best friend, with whom I was going to the movie. This was met with “you are always complaining we never go to the movies and now when I arrange it you don’t want to???” Hehe, I am guilty of being contradictory. I love going to the movies and transporting myself into a world of fantasy and alternative reality. I love movies so much I could live in one! I’m always going on about watching this movie and that. But every time I have to choose between talking and going to a movie, I always choose talking.
I’m not into making small talk or talking to all and sundry. In fact, I have lost many a friend because I didn’t share enough, didn’t talk enough, didn’t do something enough. I am intensely private. And, I am shy. It takes me years to call you my friend, by which time, as one other friend points out people are tired and therefore end up not being a part of my life. I am difficult. But, when I do call you my friend, I will climb mountains for you. And, a best friend is a significant notch above all of this. What I’m trying to say is, I love talking to my best friend!
So, I went to Gravity, somewhat sulkily… I didn’t want to go! But, I am so glad I did. It was sooo good. I urge everyone to go see this movie. I had heard it had got good reviews and everything but it was still such an amazing surprise. I am not a Sandra Bullock fan and George Clooney leaves me cold, but I have to admit Sandra Bullock was unbelievable, and George Clooney was really good too. I read somewhere that this is as close to outer space as normal folk like me will get to. I believe that. The silence of space is deafening. And the beauty, spectacular. And, its scary as hell too.
An amazing film. Go see it!
Now this tea is gorgeous and everyone in India knows what I am talking about it. Fall in a teacup! The fragrances and the textures it comes from are so intensely earthly. And just as beautiful as the severe emptiness of space.
- 2 cups water
- 1½ tsp black loose tea (or 2 bags black tea)
- 2 cardamom pods
- a stick of cinnamon
- 3 cloves
- 2 thin slices fresh ginger
- a pinch of nutmeg
- milk
- honey/sugar
- You could substitute the ginger, cloves and nutmeg for a teaspoon of pumpkin spice mixture. But it's so easy to do that using whole fresh spices is much better!
- Bring the 2 cups of water to a boil with the tea, cardamom, cinnamon stick, cloves, ginger and nutmeg. (Ginger, cloves and nutmeg make up pumpkin spice mix). Cover the pan and let simmer for 3-4 minutes. Let all the flavors mix and infuse into one another. Turn of the heat and let sit covered for another 2 minutes.
- Sieve out into a cup. Add milk and sugar to taste.
