Welcome to Boxofspice!
My name is Rakhee. I’m Indian, lived in the US and then moved to The Netherlands. I am a graphic designer/photographer and boxofspice is the space where I bring the two together. I develop and create recipes, style and photograph all my pictures. My quest is to discover new ways to make favorite Indian foods while using local produce. In between the search for my roots I bake to relax!
Favorite things include my computer and camera, my handheld mixer, okra cooked in any form and dark rainy days.
I love receiving emails from all my readers and would love to hear from you. I can be reached at: info@boxofspice.com and of course on Facebook and Instagram.
All photographs on this site are taken by me so if you’d like to use any photos & recipes, please ask or link back to the site for the full recipe and instructions.

Hi I came across your blog through a comment you made on support regarding your image/picture size problems on your blog. I was having the same issue (actually, I’m still waiting for them (support team) to figure out what’s going on with the blog image size prob.) and visited the thread. Anyhow, you indeed have gorgeous food pictures! I am so impressed with not only the pics but the recipes! Wow, thanks for sharing such great recipe’s, I’m definitely going to give some of them a try- especially that fig tart recipe you posted. Looks yum.
Thank you so much for visiting my site and do let me know when you do try any of the recipes, how they turn out!
Hi there! I am looking for your email address or facebook page URL. I wanted to ask your permission to use one of your photographs in a fig recipe roundup for Babble.com. Your site and photographs are beautiful! Thank you!
Rakhee, how critical is it to use brown sugar in this recipe? If I don’t have it, can I substitute with regular sugar? Thank you.
Sorry, I meant to post this on a different page. Please, disregard.
Hi Rakhee,
I am an editor of the new desserts recipe website TheBestDessertRecipes.com and would love to feature some of your dessert recipes, like your Pecan Pie, on the site with full credit to you. I know readers would enjoy your recipes and in return this would generate some nice traffic to your site. We post a description of the recipe, an image, your name and blog, and a direct link to the full recipe that is on your blog. It’s really that simple. Here’s an example from our site of how we feature blogger recipes: http://www.thebestdessertrecipes.com/No-Bake-Desserts/Perfect-Pink-Lemonade-Freezer-Bars.
My site is part of Prime Publishing and we publish 19 cooking and crafting web sites. We have over 4.5 million active e-mail subscribers and about 10 million page views per week. You can learn more about us at http://www.primecp.com.

Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Hi Rakhee,
We absolutely adore your blog! Gorgeous photos and fabulous recipes. We’re in the process of writing a round-up of our favorite pie blogs, and we think your post about Pecan Pie is the perfect fit. We would love to include its photograph (with a link back to your site), if that’s alright with you. Can you please respond to this comment by email so we can discuss this further? We would need your permission by November 15.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Kate

Hi Rakhee,
I love your blog and nice stories reflecting daily struggles on your life path to fulfill your dreams and passions! Don’t we find ourselves in them many times as well? I always admire your unique recipies and brilliant pictures! Great art work! Go go go my Indian friend! 🙂
Beautiful blog! Looking forward to trying some of your recipes!
Visually stunning photos and delicious recipes! I’m glad I found you through Pinterest. Like you, I like to incorporate spices into many things I cook. ps: I found it a lil cumbersome to look at all your recipes (because you’ve such awesome recipes) as I had to scroll through the archives. Maybe a recipe list on a separate page? cheers!
Hi Vasun, Thank you so much for your compliments! And thank you for your suggestions… I am in the process of a redesign of the blog so plan to make it easier for my readers. 🙂
Looking forward to reading your redesigned blog & more beautifully photographed recipes! Cheers!
Hi rakhee
Your recipes are really wonderful. But being vegetarian in India means no eggs. I would be great if you can tell me the egg substitute in your bakery recipes.
Hi Shipra, Thank you for dropping by. I will definitely try and give substitutes for eggs from now on.
Your food is great but your styling and photography take the cake!
Hi Rakhee, My first visit here. Just loving it. I’ll be missing your india workshop by few weeks, too bad. Best..
i have been looking for fresh ideas to use local produce in my cooking. Being a vegetarian (from India) dals and lentils are my main source for protein in my diet. I read about your book in our library catalog. So glad I found your blog looks very interesting and just what I need. Looking forward to try out your take on dals!!
Thank you so much Ninu! Dals are life for me as I’m sure they are for you. I’m so glad you found me!
Every recipe in your cookbook is a hit! Love the pineapple curry…I add tofu and green beans at the end. Fava beans, carrots, fennel, beets my favorite veggies…love that your incorporate them into your amazing recipes. Need a sequel cookbook.
