Ingredients
  • 500 grams semi-dried figs (dried will also do)
  • 100 grams walnuts, chopped roughly
  • 100 grams almonds, chopped roughly
  • 1½ tbsps garam masala
  • 1 tbsp fennel seeds
  • 2 tbsps orange zest
  • 50 ml rum
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 160°C.
  2. Cut the figs in small pieces.
  3. Mix the garam masala with the zest and rum.
  4. Knead the figs, the chopped nuts (almonds and walnuts), the fennel seeds and the garam masala. Mix well with your hands till it becomes a solid sticky mass. If the dough is too dry you can add a tbsp of extra rum at a time.
  5. Form into a roll, cover with foil and set in the oven for 15 minutes.
  6. Let cool completely. Cut into slices and serve.
