Pumpkin Spice Tea {Masala Chai}

Ingredients
  • 2 cups water
  • 1½ tsp black loose tea (or 2 bags black tea)
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • a stick of cinnamon
  • 3 cloves
  • 2 thin slices fresh ginger
  • a pinch of nutmeg
  • milk
  • honey/sugar
  • You could substitute the ginger, cloves and nutmeg for a teaspoon of pumpkin spice mixture. But it's so easy to do that using whole fresh spices is much better!
Instructions
  1. Bring the 2 cups of water to a boil with the tea, cardamom, cinnamon stick, cloves, ginger and nutmeg. (Ginger, cloves and nutmeg make up pumpkin spice mix). Cover the pan and let simmer for 3-4 minutes. Let all the flavors mix and infuse into one another. Turn of the heat and let sit covered for another 2 minutes.
  2. Sieve out into a cup. Add milk and sugar to taste.
