TIJARA, India. We are staying in a 5-star resort in the most spectacular surroundings. All accommodation, meals, drinks (except alcohol), workshop activities are included in the price. The rooms are very luxurious. Some meals are cooked by us, others are provided on site and consist of the finest and freshest food this bountiful area has to offer.
Rakhee & Julian will be teaching at the workshop, sharing their individual knowledge on how to set up a beautiful scene for your pictures.
WHO CAN ATTEND
This workshop is for anyone who is interested in photography at a beginner or intermediate level. If you own a DSLR (or not) and have never picked it up, we will cover the basics of camera settings right in the beginning so you can acquaint yourself to your own camera. My retreats are a perfect way to travel and learn, meet different creatives from all over the world and an excellent way widen your horizons.
A 4-day food photography workshop, where Rakhee and Julian will share their knowledge on technical skills, styling, social media, creative writing, and Adobe Lightroom. There will also be an opportunity to talk 1-on-1 with us about your goals and ambitions concerning food photograpy, styling, blogging (+ editing) etc. While we learn, our days will be filled with good food, laughter, sharing each others stories, surrounded by history in this beautiful country.
4 days/3 nights (7,8,9 March). Beds are on a sharing and private room basis.
In this perfect setting learn the tips and tricks in basic Food Photography and Styling but also witness and be part of the hustle bustle of India.
We will be staying at a luxury hotel situated away from the usual chaos that defines India! The Resort is one of the best resorts in Jaipur that offer you the best there is. We will also be staying on a shared basis.
Classes + activities:
Theory of photography – We will talk about the basic camera settings. By the end of the workshop you will know everything about ISO, aperture, shutter speed, composition, lenses, full frame vs. cropped frame, white balance and much more. On top of that, you will know how to use this knowledge to your advantage and become your camera’s best friend.
Styling practical – For this class we learn by doing. Rakhee and Julian will show you how we go about styling and creating a food story. They will demonstrate how to create shots which beautifully contrasts the bright colors of the food. They will demonstrate how to create a scene by going through the thought process, examining natural light, crafting an environment, choosing props, and choosing angles. They will also show you how to purposely use props, and what negative space does with your photography.
How to use Adobe Lightroom – A sit down session where we talk about editing your photos and how to create a personal preset to give your images that consistent look and feel.
Talk about social media and marketing – In this session we talk about growing a community on Instagram, talk about developing a style, the use of hashtags, dealing with the algorithms, how to go about sponsored posts, collaborations, balancing creativity & business,
Welcome dinner – On the first day after a long trip, you will be offered a lovely dinner. Long tables, a home-cooked style meal by Rakhee, dessert by Julian, candle light, and good company!
- Workshop will cover: basic camera settings such as shutter speed, aperture, and ISO and their effects on the image. Lenses and their focal lengths, manipulation of natural lighting, food styling and plating, and post production in Adobe Lightroom.
The nearest airport is New Delhi and is the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
- A DLSR, or smart phone camera is required. (no point and shoot)
- All accommodation, meals, workshop, workshop related activities and city visits (if any) are included in the workshop cost.

- Thursday March 8th: Photography lessons, hands on shooting & styling, social media talk.
- Friday March 9th: Hands on shooting and styling. Adobe Lightroom demo.
- Saturday March 10th: Farewell breakfast at 9 am. Guests depart by noon.
